About the program

4.1 K Security Screeners .Personnel responsible for security screening (Passengers and crew, baggage, cargo and mail)

This program is in compliance with the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) certification requirements  for Security Screeners. This course is designed for airport and cargo handling staff and security supervisors and operations managers involved in screening baggage. You will gain a thorough understanding of the screening process, including the use of x-ray machines, metal detectors, and other screening equipment. You will also learn about the various types of prohibited and Dangerous Goods and how to identify them, as well as how to check documentation and packages for indications of undeclared Dangerous Goods. Additionally, you will be trained on how to handle and respond to security incidents and Dangerous Goods emergencies. Upon completion of this course, you will have the skills and knowledge necessary to pass the relevant certification exams and become a certified security screener.

Duration of Training - Initial : 1 day (8 hours)

  • Security service providers staff involved in screening baggage, cargo and mail
  • Security operations managers and supervisors

Objectives

After completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify and classify dangerous goods
  • Interpret hazard communication
  • Detect hidden dangerous goods in cargo and mail
  • Check documentation and packages for indications of undeclared dangerous goods
  • Explain the basic Emergency Response procedures

Certification

A Certificate valid with GCAA will be issued upon the successful completion of the course assessment. Being an CBTA approved provider (IATA Montreal, Canada) , the successful candidates can obtain IATA Certification as well. This Certificate is valid for two years.

Resources During Training

Current year IATA DG Regulations Manual and the UAE Civil Aviation Regulations (CAR) Part VI Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air (DGR Aviation will provide these for the duration of the  training)

Class Activities

  • Plenty of simulation exercises and case studies on various types of Dangerous Goods shipment to enable participants to progressively apply their knowledge and skills to prepare and accept Dangerous Goods shipment.
  • Final assessment (theory and practical) on last day of class to assess participant’s knowledge, skills and attitude on the application of the Regulations.
