About the program

In compliance with the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) certification requirements - Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) training for personnel responsible for processing or accepting Dangerous Goods .

Personnel responsible for processing or accepting Dangerous Goods consignments or accepting mail containing Dangerous Goods or personnel nominated by their employer to meeting the GCAA Dangerous Goods Certification requirements or personnel performing the functions of Dangerous Goods Post Holder for Air Operators including “no-carry” Air Operators, ground Handling Agents, Helicopter Operators, Designated Postal Operators, Freight Forwarders and Packaging Suppliers

Duration of Training - Initial : 5 days (40 hours)- (including Radioactive material) 

 

Target Audience

This course is specifically for Freight forwarder staff involved in the handling, processing and accepting goods presented as general cargo Operator and ground handling agent staff involved in handling, processing and accepting goods presented as general cargo Airline and cargo training specialists Operations managers and frontline supervisors.

Objectives

After completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the national and international legal framework on the air transport of Dangerous Goods.
  • Understand the specific responsibilities of the shipper and operator.
  • Navigate the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations to correctly apply it to classify, identify, pack, mark, label, document, accept, store, load the Dangerous Goods shipment, based on your specific job functions.

Certification

A Certificate valid with GCAA will be issued upon the successful completion of the course assessment. Being an CBTA approved provider (IATA Montreal, Canada) , the successful candidates can obtain IATA Certification as well. This Certificate is valid for two years.

Current year IATA DG Regulations Manual and the UAE Civil Aviation Regulations (CAR) Part VI Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air (DGR Aviation will provide these for the duration of the  training)

Class Activities

  • Plenty of simulation exercises and case studies on various types of Dangerous Goods shipment to enable participants to progressively apply their knowledge and skills to prepare and accept Dangerous Goods shipment.
  • Final assessment (theory and practical) on last day of class to assess participant’s knowledge, skills and attitude on the application of the Regulations.
