About the program

4.1.B - DGR for Preparing and Classifying Dangerous Goods

Personal preparing Dangerous Goods consignments for transport (Personnel classifying dangerous goods for transport is provided simultaneously) – “Shippers & Packers” including operator’s staff acting as shippers, operator’s staff preparing Dangerous Goods as company Materials (COMAT) and staff of freight forwarders acting on behalf of the shipper.

This comprehensive course is designed for individuals and organizations involved in the transportation of Dangerous Goods. Our course covers the regulations and guidelines set forth by General Civil Aviation Authority & International Air Transport Association (IATA)will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to properly prepare and classify Dangerous Goods for transportation. Upon completion of the course, you will have a thorough understanding of the regulations and guidelines related to the transportation of Dangerous Goods and will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to ensure compliance and minimize the risk of accidents.

Duration of Training - 24 hours (3 days)

Objectives

After completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Fulfil the regulatory compliance requirements
  • Perform tasks involved in preparing dangerous goods consignments and documentation
  • Apply IATA’s DGR manual to process accurately of dangerous goods consignments
  • Recognize the legal responsibilities of stakeholders involved in transportation of dangerous goods by air

Certification

A Certificate valid with GCAA will be issued upon the successful completion of the course assessment. Being an CBTA approved provider (IATA Montreal, Canada) , the successful candidates can obtain IATA Certification as well. This Certificate is valid for two years.

  • Packing, marking and labelling requirements: UN Specifications, limited quantities and other packaging

Class Activities

  • Simulation exercises and case studies on various types of Dangerous Goods found undeclared in general cargo. These exercises will progressively increase participant’sknowledge and skills on how to detect undeclared Dangerous Goods from entering the system.
  • Final assessment (theory and practical) on the last day of class to assess participants’ knowledge, skills, and attitude on the application of these regulations.
